The LG G Pad 2 8.0-inch tablet is now available in South Korea. It should come as a surprise to many, simply because this has been quite the silent launch. The positive outcome is we’ve not had to wait long between previous leaks and an actual release, which should please those who eagerly await the new tablet in the region.
Before one gets excited over the tablet, we have to reveal that the G Pad 2.0 from LG is a mid-range offering, sporting a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal storage. A 4,200mAh battery will power internals, matched with a 5MP rear (and 2MP front-facing) camera setup with Android 5.0 to boot. Rumors from earlier this year suggested the possibility of a Snapdragon 805 powering the tablet, but it looks like LG decided to target the mid-range segment in its home market.
Unfortunately, we’re unsure as to when LG plans to launch the G Pad 2 8.0 outside of South Korea. LG may decide to launch the tablet with refreshed internals in global markets, but at this stage there’s no information to suggest that.
